The Moomins are cult in Finland. In Finland, there is the big Moomin World near Turku in the town of Naantali. In Helsinki and other cities there are the Moomin shops. This Finnish cult figure with the sweet and funny cartoons is known in Germany only by insiders. From time to time some films are repeated on television. Tove (Marika) Jansson published the first Moomin stories in 1953 at the suggestion of Tolkien and Carrol.
